Our story

Hello. My name is Jamie Cullen, and I founded Mobile Car Spa.

I've always had a passion for car care and appearance since being a young boy, experimenting with different polishes and waxes on family and family friends' cars — much to their delight, I'm sure.

I was employed by a manufacturing company before I took the leap to set up Mobile Car Spa, follow my passion and gain the freedom of self employment. I've never looked back.

Over the years I have perfected my skills in vehicle valeting and detailing, and have now turned Mobile Car Spa into a franchise, with opportunities to join our team throughout the UK.

Why did we set up?

Whilst you may set out with every intention of maintaining your car properly, the reality is that your career, family commitments and leisure pursuits may not leave you sufficient time to do so. This is where Mobile Car Spa can help. We offer a range of professional valeting and detailing services designed to meet the needs of our customers, and currently throughout the North East of England we offer everything from routine washing and waxing to full machine polishing, ceramic coatings and beyond.

Mobile Car Spa was initially launched in March 2011 by Jamie Cullen to cover the South Shields, Sunderland and Newcastle areas, and has since gone on to expand throughout the North East via franchising. We have gained help and support expanding the Mobile Car Spa brand from The Franchise Company, who specialise in business franchising and are members of The British Franchise Association.

Became an Enduro Shield Rain Repellent approved supplier and applicator.
January 2014
Trademark registration approved.
April 2014
Mobile Car Spa become authorised applicators of Diamondbrite Paint and Fabric Protection treatments.
October 2014
Achieved a Certificate in Cleaning and Support Services Skills.
October 2014
The Mobile Car Spa franchise model is set up with the help and support of The Franchise Company, a British Franchise Association member.
December 2014
Partnered with Drop 4 Drop, starting a fund-raising project to help build a well in Zambia, Africa.
February 2015
Achieved an Award in Developing Enterprise Skills.
March 2015
Launched our first franchise — Chris Keir, covering the Cramlington, Morpeth and Ponteland areas.
October 2015
National car valet promotion. Mobile Car Spa work alongside TLC Marketing Worldwide, offering customers of More Than Insurance a free mobile car valet when they take out a selected policy.
February 2016
The Mobile Car Spa team become members of Checked and Vetted.
April 2016
We become associated members of Professional Valeters and Detailers. Members have to meet a range of criteria, including appropriate insurance, a proven track record and satisfied clients.
May 2016
Accredited members of The Franchise Alliance, demonstrating to potential franchisees that we offer a strong business model, independently verified by a third party and conforming to their Code of Conduct.
July 2016
Launched franchise — Ryan Dawson, covering County Durham and the surrounding areas.
September 2018
Mobile Car Spa become authorised applicators of Chipex.
December 2018
Funded and completed our first water project in Malawi, Africa. Read more about this fantastic achievement.
February 2019
Launched franchise — Frank Griffiths, covering Northallerton, Darlington and the surrounding areas.
March 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic threatens to disrupt businesses across the world. We adapt the business to cope.
July 2020
Launched franchise — Rhys Atkinson, covering Sunderland and the surrounding areas.
August 2020
Officially announced the use of Gtechniq for all ceramic coatings.
January 2024
Plans for continued franchise growth and expansion into new areas across the country.
